Groom & CompanyDecember 19, 2011

I was asked to and had the privilege of being the 2nd shooter for Tracie & Kevin’s wedding, assisting the extremely talented Ashley Therese. It was an absolute pleasure.  Tracie, myself and all the bridesmaids went to high school together.  It was a bit of a reunion.  One of her maids of honor is a dear friend.  It was wonderful to catch up after my work was done at the end of the night.  Let me tell you how the day began…

If it’s your job to shoot the groom and all the groomsmen getting ready, you know you’re at the right house when you show up and see nothing but half naked men running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Some with pants and no shirts, some with shirts and no pants.  AHHH!  And we thought girls were bad.. haha.  Pure Chaos ladies.  It went something like this..  “Where’s MY cumberbund?!, Who’s tie is this?, Ok who’s missing cuff links! Seriously GUYS Kevin says everyone has to wear their suspenders!”  It was like a ballet from room to room, spinning and turning about, watching these gentlemen do their best to look their best.  Let me tell you, SWAG was on high volume this morning and despite all the early commotion the crew got it together and was ready to move out almost an hour before the party bus arrived.  It was an honor to hang out and capture some moments with them before the rest of their busy day was to begin.

As a 2nd shooter it’s my job to be everywhere the lead photographer isn’t and without pressure.  There is a lot of pressure on the lead photographer the day of a wedding and it’s the awareness of that pressure resting on someone else that makes me focus and work to my ability.  Enjoy my work and please take a look at the rest of this wonderful wedding with the stunning images of Ashley Therese Photography.

Dan & Diane: A Beautiful Day for a WeddingDecember 19, 2011

You just couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day.  Not only was the day beautiful but everything was, from the Bride & Groom to the Reception Hall.  I was so excited for this wedding. It was my first of the year and I had my brother Devlin working with me as a 2nd shooter. It definitely makes the day go a lot smoother when you have someone to help, especially a sibling.  It also helps when you have such a great wedding party.  These guys were nonstop jokers always playing up to the camera.  They were so much fun to shoot.  I Can’t forget Dan & Diane.  They were just so happy to be close to one another all day.  Diane couldn’t stop smiling, she truly was glowing.  For me, It was great to see these two families come together on such a wonderful day.  It’s a great story that love can always be found and when your family can be there to witness your moment what could be better.

You Never Know..December 19, 2011

Sometimes you just don’t.  I hadn’t met Harry and Joanne yet and here I was going to shoot their engagement photos.  I had only spoke to Joanne briefly over the phone to set things up and answer some of her questions.  She and Harry live in Tennessee and were only in town for a week to visit family and somehow make all the wedding preparations.  Well not all but some important ones, like booking me of course.. haha.   I couldn’t be happier.  These two were so easy to work with.  What a great couple.  I love what I do because of people like Harry and Joanne.  I get to take pictures of people in love and capture how they show that love in a look, a touch, an embrace.  You never know how the day will play out but when you see two people in love you’re guaranteed to witness something special.  Sometimes you can’t see it right away and sometimes you really have to pay attention but it’s right there between their eyes.

“Big Bambú: You Can’t, You Don’t, and You Won’t Stop…”December 19, 2011

…Unless it’s 105 degrees!  Steph and I went down to NYC a couple weeks back to visit some friends and just hang out.  That Friday night we visited the MoMA, which was excellent.  Very inspiring!  It was really just too hot out and too humid to enjoy anything.  We ended up staying in and cooking up some tasty jalapeno, Gorgonzola, sun dried tomato burgers.  Bangin!  Thanks To Sam and Anna for our brief but otherwise great visit.
Saturday morning Steph and I thought it’d be great to walk through the park to the MET.  Ugh.. couldn’t have been worse. It was definitely over 100 degrees and we were slowly fading. I was however, totally impressed with all the people out jogging around the reservoir.  But seriously it was pretty bad out.  We got to the MET just in time.  (I think steph was about to pass out)  Ahhh.. the way the A/C hits you in the face when you walk through the front doors.  I wish I could bottle that sensation.  After cooling off a bit inside we hit the roof for the latest rooftop installation, Big Bambú.  It was pretty amazing.  Once you’re up there bamboo surrounds you in every direction skyward.  I felt like a kid seeing the coolest tree fort for the first time.  I wanted to take off and start climbing.  I really appreciate ideas like this.  It’s something that touches on the idea of expression and whether artistic or not expressing an idea in your own way is the true meaning of sharing.  These artists have shared there soul with us and while we my not have created the expression, being on the recieving end of what was expressed makes us just as important in the overall process.  My work belongs to you.  Enjoy.

Ready or Not!December 19, 2011

I remember someone asked me once if I had any kids, “I’m not ready” I thought and replied.  “Are you ever really ready?” he said.  I guess not.  I mean, there are somethings you’re never really ready for in life until it just happens.  Well Bonnie and Roger WERE ready for this little miracle.  Just not this week!  haha.. Gabriella Rose Hakins decided she was going to show up a little early.  And While buying a new home and having a baby on the way are definitely exciting times for anyone, moving in and having that baby in the same week is well.. CRAZY.  Something tells me they wouldn’t change anything in the world, now that little Gabriella is here.  Guys, I’m so happy for you. She is perfect!

INSPIRATION!December 19, 2011

I consider myself lucky to have some really great people in my life.  People that are supportive, that are there to listen and give advice.  I’m lucky to have so many talented friends and family that continue to follow their dreams in music and the arts.  It’s a total thrill when I’m still called upon to fill in on the turntables for a live performance or lay down some cuts for a recording session in the studio.  Honestly, I’m holding on to those skills so when they make it big, and they will, I’ll be ready for the world tour. haha..  And as there are many things that continue to inspire me, one above all else captures my heart while simultaneously leaving me awstruck.  Stephanie.  Don’t worry now, I’ll save the mushy stuff for another time.  But what can I say..  She’s truly amazing and the reason I started this blog.(she’s slighty persistent)

Steph and I are currently teaming up on some art projects, while plotting our future world domination.  Ok, not really just more artistic collaborations. She’s a very talented artist herself and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with.. more on that later.  For now I’ll leave you with some photographs of Stephanie.

She worked so hard, getting frustrated at times only to look unbelievably gorgeous, as she is, in the most graceful way.

Thanks Steph!  I love you.

Newborn for a new blog!December 19, 2011

So here’s my first attempt at a blog!  Ugh.. took me long enough or so my girlfriend thinks.  I think it just took the right motivation and maybe a little inspiration, literally.  My little inspiration- Abigail Grace Leydon. Thank you.. haha.  Soooo incredibly cute!  Abigail’s mom, Jocelyn, and I went to high school together.  It’s really an amazing thing to have so many memories of all my old friends just being kids together all those years ago, and now to see those same friends having their own kids.  I’m loving this time in my life, and I can’t wait to see what else there is ahead of me.  Thanks, Jocelyn and Jason for this precious little gift.  I hope you enjoy the photos!

Tim
