Polo Ground SundownMay 24, 2017

Last weekend, while driving home after a shoot in Wallingford, CT, I found myself cruising along one of my favorite roads.  I was hoping that I might come across the scene you’ll see below.  I stopped, parked, grabbed my camera and just waited for these equine beauties to make their way over.  Eating paths through the field, It was quiet, calming and wonderful to watch.  What a lovely way to end the day.

Mexico Dreams – Michael & Jessica’s Playa Mujeres WeddingMay 16, 2017

I’m long overdue for some blogging and so, today, I bring you back to my first wedding of the year: Michael and Jessica’s February 12th wedding in Playa Mujeres, Mexico.  I have to let you know, it was slightly stressful in the few days leading up to the celebration. I actually thought I wasn’t going to make it at all.  Traveling with my friend and talented videographer, Shane, we originally were slated to leave for Cancun on February 9th.  With a wild winter storm approaching the New York area, our flights were cancelled well before the snow hit and we didn’t end up leaving until that Saturday, the 11th.  The airlines couldn’t even get us on the same flight.  It was totally chaotic but we made it with time to spare before the rehearsal dinner.

After dropping our bags and soaking up a little sun, we met Jess and her girls for a quick photo session.  This is one of the things I love about destination weddings.  I’m not just there to cover the wedding but the entire weekend experience with friends and family.  Think of me as a guest who happens to be a professional photographer. How lucky am I?

As with all destination weddings, this one was intimate and incredibly emotional at times.  During the best man’s speech, Todd, Michael’s older brother, paused while noting a point about their past.  That pause led to tears, not only his but everyone else in attendance; including me.  I was literally hiding behind my camera.  It’s in these moments, that I’m so lucky to do what I do. Connecting with that very energy that sent everyone into water works is what drives and fills my core, and inspires my work.

Michael & Jessica, thank you so much for having me be apart of something so magical.  I wish you nothing but the best!

-Tim

Out and About in AntiguaDecember 1, 2016

Last month I traveled to the twin island country of Antigua and Barbuda. I was actually there to capture a wedding at the Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa. Whenever I travel, it’s important to me to explore as much as I can.  On this trip I took an extra day to do just that. Below is a short series of images taken on my Pentax 645N with Kodak Portra 400. In this limited view, you’ll find that Antigua holds, not only a gorgeous natural beauty but a colorful culture as well. Everyone I came across was extremely friendly and hospitable, making me want to go back already! Enjoy!

A Travelers Guide To Love In San FranciscoSeptember 27, 2016

When Tim & Johanna inquired about their San Francisco elopement, I was beyond excited for many reasons. Of course, I love San Francisco and the Bay, it’s one of my favorite places and to capture such a special moment would be incredible. I also knew that I’d be able to visit my younger brother who lives there.

I decided to pack up the family for a little vacation on the West Coast. It was my daughter’s first time flying, which was so exciting for us and her. We certainly had a fun filled week, hanging with old friends and doing new things with Emilia. The real reason, however, was to be with this wonderful couple who traveled all the way from Germany to celebrate their 10 year anniversary, to the day, by eloping in San Francisco City Hall.

Before I tell you about their day, let me just start by saying something about Tim and Johanna. They are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. They’re quick to laugh and find humor in almost anything and the gentleness they have towards each other is something to envy. After spending the entire day together, I did indeed miss them.

The day was finally had finally come. With all the planning, emails back and forth, here we were! When I arrived at Triple Twist Salon, Johanna was in the middle of her beautification while Tim was taking it all in. Johanna had hand made her bouquet the day before as well as Tim’s boutonniere. Just amazing!

From there, we headed straight to City Hall. If you’re not familiar with City Hall weddings, it’s very much like going to the DMV. Well, not exactly.. haha. There are lines and tickets with numbers being called while,”Now serving number 1071 in Lane B” flashes on LED’s in the hallway. But you aren’t waiting to deal with your expired registration, no! You are there on the happiest day- your wedding day! Imagine a DMV of LOVE!

Once the paper work was good to go, we walked to the bottom of the grand stairway for the ceremony. If you never been inside SF City Hall, I highly recommend it. The building is absolutely stunning. The ceremony was quick and official.

What follows was a day filled with taking in the sites as husband and wife in the great city by the bay. A Powell & Market trolley, the Lion Street Steps, a stroll through the Palace of Fine Arts, a view from Sutro Baths and a kiss at Battery Spencer is how these travelers loved in San Francisco.

A Catskills WeddingJune 6, 2016

No GPS, no street signs, no problem. I had a map. Remember those? Haha.. Seriously though, I pulled into the first driveway I saw off this road and luckily it was where Gina and her bridesmaids were getting ready. I was preparing myself for a shotgun welcome. Ahh but this view! When my car first scrambled up this gravely hill, firing rocks all over the place, I knew I’d be back for this shot. Weddings can be an adventure but this one was an adventure just to get too.

Sea Grass and Sand DunesMay 30, 2016

Last month I spent couple nights in Gloucester on Coffins beach aka Wingaersheek. One morning, not long after sunrise, I headed down to one of my favorite places to be. Apparently, a few others had the same idea. As I reached the crest of sea grass and sand dunes my sight was drawn to four shapes. It took me a second to realize what it or they were. Deer. Having never seen such a thing, I sprinted back over the sandy path to grab my camera bag. Below are a series of images of a family of deer frolicking along one of the most perfect stretches of beach anywhere.

Astronautalis, Ceschi & Factor Chandelier World TourMay 17, 2016

I’m so proud of my friend Ceschi. The dedication and never ending commitment to not only his music but to everyone else he believes in, is astounding. In some way, I may not be exactly where I am today if it wasn’t for his support when I needed it. Anyone that knows him and his family knows what I’m talking about, the best!

As the world tour hits Europe this week, here are a few images from last weeks show at BAR in New Haven.

Good luck guys!
